The psychological and emotional trauma experienced by the Black community as a result of police violence is a major cause for concern. Repeatedly and frequently seeing someone that looks like you being treated in a manner that is less than human places a toil on the human psyche. wautEcabm acknowledges the trauma, as well as its effects and is committed to incorporating mental health discussions in its education programs.
Mental health organizations are designed to educate the general public on mental health, as well as aid in the prevention of mental health disorders, neurological and substance use disorders. Partnering with these organizations, allows us to incorporate our ideas and methods into an existing framework that produces results and manage the outcomes. Two years after the murder of John Crawford, lll at the hands of a Police Officer in a Walmart store in Ohio, his son’s mother, LeeCee Johnson was sentenced to 18 months in prison for child endangerment. Ms. Johnson was jailed for leaving her 4 children unattended on a city street in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the time of John’s death, his girlfriend was Tasha Thomas. Ms. Thomas was reportedly threatened with jail time and suggested she was high during a 90 minute interrogation by the detective. In a video that was released, one could easily hear that Ohio Police was aggressively interrogating Ms. Thomas, and she could be heard pleading with the detective and swearing on the lives of her family members that she didn’t know if John Crawford possessed a gun. It is when Black families are traumatized and left to figure out life after horrendous injustices that may have suddenly changed their lives is where mental health professionals can help.
We are partnering with mental health organizations to help communities across the nation to deal with the traumatic effects suffered by the families as a consequence of crimes committed against Black males. At wautEcabm Inc., we believe that integrating these mental health organizations will be essential in establishing credibility and allowing families to successfully progress through stages of grief due to the lost of their loved ones. With sufficient and timely mental health intervention and care, it is our hope that family victims will regain a sense of normalcy and the support needed to go on living their lives in productive ways as U.S. citizens.
